Mount Meru Climb

Mount Meru, an active stratovolcano, stands at 4,565 meters (14,977 ft) and is located 70 kilometers west of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. As the ninth or tenth highest mountain in Africa, it offers stunning views and diverse wildlife. The climb offers a chance to see nearly 400 bird species, monkeys, and leopards, making it a unique adventure through Arusha National Park.

Mount Meru Climb

Day 1:

Arusha – Momella Gate – Miriakamba Hut

  • Depart Arusha at 07:30 for the Momella gate.
  • After completing park formalities, begin the trek past the Ngarenanyuki River to Miriakamba Hut.
  • Dinner and overnight at Miriakamba Hut.

Day 2:

Miriakamba Hut – Saddle Hut

  • After breakfast, follow an ascending path along the steep saddle to Saddle Hut.
  • Optional trek to Little Meru and return to Saddle Hut.
  • Dinner and overnight at Saddle Hut.

Day 3:

Saddle Hut – Summit – Miriakamba Hut

  • Early start for the summit of Meru (4,565m).
  • After a brief stop and rest at the summit, descend to Miriakamba Hut.
  • Dinner and overnight at Miriakamba Hut.

Day 4:

Miriakamba Hut – Momella Gate – Arusha

  • After breakfast, descend to Momella gate
  • Return transfer to Arusha.
